Best known for his series Minimum Wage, Bob Fingerman’s contributions to comics have been many and varied. In 1984, while attending the School of Visual Arts, he was drafted by the legendary Harvey Kurtzman to contribute to his kids’ humor anthology NUTS!
At the same time Fingerman also entered the foreign market, doing strips for L’Echo Des Savanes and El Vibora. He appeared in Cracked, the infamous tabloid Screw, Penthouse Hot Talk, Heavy Metal, National Lampoon and High Times.
In the ’90s he decided to focus on comics, doing a stint on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He also created covers and short stories for Dark Horse Comics, Marvel and DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint.
Since then he created the critically acclaimed graphic novels White Like She, You Deserved It, Recess Pieces and From the Ashes, as well as the novels Bottomfeeder and Pariah and the trippy illustrated novella Connective Tissue.
In the mid-’90s his series Minimum Wage won a devoted cult audience. In 2013 it was revised and collected in Image’s definitive Maximum Minimum Wage. Minimum Wage then returned for two all-new arcs, Focus on the Strange and So Many Bad Decisions. He is currently at work developing a new series. He is married and lives in New York City.
