Edvin Biukovic (1969 - December 5, 1999) was a Croatian comic artist. He made his debut in 1987 and immediately became recognized as hot new commodity. He spent several more years working on comic projects in Croatia and Germany.
His big break came in 1993 when Dark Horse published Devils and Deaths, his collaboration with writer Darko Macan, in Grendel Tales. The pair were subsequently asked back to do a four-issue sequel, Devil's Choices. He was awarded the Russ Manning Best Newcomer Award in 1995.
Later he worked on two Star Wars mini-series; X-wings: Rouge Squadron and Last Command, also for Dark Horse.
In 1998 he illustrated the Peter Milligan revival of Len Wein's creation Human Target for DC/Vertigo. Prior to his untimely death in December 1999 he did couple of short stories for Vertigo's anthologies, one of them being, A Prayer To The Sun (again with Darko Macan), nominated for the best short story at Eisner Awards in 2001.
He died suddenly of a brain tumor in his hometown Zagreb, a short two weeks after it was initially diagnosed. He was only thirty years old.
These two batches, of original art from Human Target, and Star Wars: Last Command, are being sold on behalf of the estate of Edvin Biukovic. These pages will most likely be the first and only pieces of Edvin's art to be released to the public for sale.
